Permissions & Unlock

This page explains the one-time permissions Field Pro needs, why each one matters, and how you unlock the app quickly every day after.

You allow these permissions once, right after your first sign-in. They let the app record your work in the field and keep your account safe.

Allow the permissions

After you sign in, Field Pro asks you to allow a few things. These are required — the app can't do a rep's job without them, so you'll be guided through each one until they're all allowed.

Here's what each one is for:

  • Precise location — so the app knows exactly which outlet you're at when you start a visit, take an order, or add a new outlet. Your real position matters, not a rough guess.
  • Background location ("Allow all the time") — so your route keeps recording even when your screen is off or another app is open. When the phone asks, choose Allow all the time, not "only while using the app".
  • Camera — so you can take live photos: proof of payment, a shelf shot, a new outlet's storefront. Many of these photos must be taken right there, on the spot.
  • Notifications — so the app can show your "on duty" reminder and keep you posted.
  • Unrestricted battery (Android only) — so your phone doesn't put the app to sleep and stop your route from recording. On Android you'll be asked to let Field Pro run without battery restrictions.

Note: "Allow all the time" for location can feel like a lot, but it's what keeps your day's route complete. The app only records while you're signed in and on the clock — it stops when you sign out or clock out.

Best practice: Choose Allow all the time for location and turn off battery restrictions on Android. If these are limited, your route can have gaps, and your manager may see your tracking as patchy.

If your phone's location is off

If your phone's location services are switched off completely (not just for Field Pro), the app shows a warning banner. Turn location back on in your phone's settings, and the warning clears.

Warning: If you remove any of these permissions later, the app sends you back to this screen the next time you open it — even if you were already signed in. You'll need to allow them again before you can work.

Unlocking the app each day

After the first setup, you don't sign in with your password every time. Instead, the app locks itself and you unlock it quickly:

  1. Open Field Pro.
  2. Unlock with your fingerprint or face, if your phone supports it.
  3. If your phone has no fingerprint or face unlock, enter your PIN instead.

The first time you use a PIN, the app asks you to choose one. After that, the same PIN unlocks the app.

Tip: A "Sign out" option is always on the unlock screen if you need to fully sign out and back in.

The app's states, in plain terms

Field Pro moves between a few simple states. Knowing them helps things make sense:

  • Signed out — you're not logged in. You sign in with your mobile number and password.
  • Locked — you're signed in, but the app is closed up for safety. A quick fingerprint, face, or PIN unlocks it. Your day's data is still on the phone.
  • Signed in — you're in and working, on your five tabs.

If your session ever expires on the server, the app sends you back to sign in — but your local data stays safely on the phone until it syncs.
