A Day in the Life

This page walks you through a typical day with Field Pro, end to end, so you can see how all the pieces fit together.

You don't have to memorize anything. Field Pro guides you from clocking in to clocking out, one outlet at a time. Here's the rhythm of a normal day.

The shape of your day

  1. Clock in. Open the app, tap the clock-in card on Today, and start your day. This also starts your route tracking. The first time each day, you pick a focus and up to three priorities.
  2. Open today's beat. Today shows your beat — your planned route — and the next stop to head to.
  3. Travel to your first outlet. Use the navigate option to get directions if you need them.
  4. Start a visit. When you arrive, start a visit at that outlet. The app captures your location and the time automatically.
  5. Do your work. Inside the visit, do whatever the stop needs — take an order, collect a payment, fill a form, or audit the shelf. You can do several of these in one visit.
  6. Mark the visit complete. When you're done, mark the visit complete. The app finalizes your location and everything you captured.
  7. Move to the next outlet. Today's progress updates, and your next stop is ready. Repeat for each outlet on your beat.
  8. End your day. When your last stop is done, clock out. Your route tracking stops, and your hours are recorded.

Step by step

1. Clock in

Tap the clock-in card on the Today screen to start your day. On your first clock-in of the day you choose a focus and up to three priorities — what you most want to get done. This also starts your route tracking for the day.

See Attendance: clock in & out.

2. Open today's beat

Today shows your beat and your next stop. If you have no beat today, you'll see a Due for a visit list instead — the outlets that need you most.

See Your day on the Today screen.

3. Travel to an outlet

Tap your next stop and use Navigate for directions. The app knows where each outlet is.

4. Start a visit

When you arrive, start a visit at that outlet. The app captures your location and the time for you, so there's nothing to fill in to begin.

See Visits.

5. Do your work

Inside the visit you can:

  • Take an order — add products from your catalog. See Taking orders.
  • Collect a payment — record cash, mobile money, cartons, and more. See Collecting payments.
  • Fill forms — answer any forms attached to the visit. See Forms.
  • Audit the shelf — check stock and merchandising. See Merchandising audit.

You can also add purposes, notes, and photos. Do as many of these as the stop needs — they're all part of the one visit.

6. Mark the visit complete

When you're finished, mark the visit complete. The app saves your final location and confirms everything you captured during the stop.

Note: If a required form is attached to the visit, you must fill it before you can complete the visit. Optional forms just give you a gentle nudge.

7. Next outlet

Today's progress ticks forward and your next stop is ready. Travel there and repeat.

8. End your day

After your last stop, clock out from the Today screen. Your route tracking stops and your hours are recorded for the day.

Best practice: Sync before you put your phone away, especially if you were offline for part of the day. A quick tap of Sync sends your day's work to the office. See Working offline & syncing.

Tip: Everything above works offline. If you lose signal between outlets, just keep working — the app saves your visits, orders, and payments on the phone and syncs them when you're back online.
